Frozen food processor – Supporting Pakistan’s frozen food exports

Frozen food processor – Supporting Pakistan’s frozen food exports

A leading frozen food processor in Pakistan supplies high-quality fruits, vegetables, and processed products to global markets. Established in the early 2010s, the company has grown steadily from its beginnings into a recognized supplier in the international frozen food industry. Operating with a production facility in Punjab, the company focuses on advanced processing and cold chain solutions to strengthen the competitiveness of Pakistan-origin food products internationally.

The portfolio includes IQF frozen fruits and vegetables, par-fried French fries, and fresh produce for export markets.

Motivation & challenge

To support growing demand and a new production line, the facility expanded and required a refrigeration system capable of maintaining strict temperature control across multiple processing stages.

The plant required stable cooling for pre-cooling, IQF freezing, cold corridors, and production areas, while maintaining energy efficiency and operational consistency.

Solution

A central refrigeration system was implemented at the facility in Pakistan.

The installation uses a two-stage ammonia system with GEA Grasso screw compressor packages equipped with variable frequency drives, providing high-stage capacity for pre-cooling and HVAC, and low-stage capacity for ultra-low temperature applications. The system supports various cooling requirements:

  • Pre-cooling: -6 °C
  • IQF freezing: -40 °C
  • Corridor cooling: -15 °C
  • HVAC cooling for production areas: +22 °C

Results & outlook

The refrigeration system supports efficient IQF processing while maintaining consistent product quality and temperature stability.

With reliable ultra-low temperature performance and energy-efficient ammonia technology, the facility is well-positioned to expand its frozen food exports to global markets.
